Some mysterious discolorations of water have been found in a recent flyover in the Gulf of Mexico, near GPS cordinates: GPS coords for discolorations: 29 46 58 … 89 02 11
The flyover by the National Wildlife Federation staff observed:
. . . red streams on the surface of the water caught in a rip line. As we flew farther into the sound, we saw mile after mile — as far at the eye could see — of what looked like red tide or dispersed oil just below the surface . . .
As far as we can tell no water samples were taken which is quite a shame. I’d say it’s impossible to say what it is without testing some samples in a laboratory. We have a request for info in though . . . .

I bet its oil. Its just horrible what we have done to our oceans. The ecosystems that will be effected by the oil spill are endless. How could we let this happen.
It’s not oil definitely….
Oh this is very sad. I think its really an oil spill. Hope this could be solved by the authorities. This is really the fault of some abusive and uncaring trans-national oil companies. They only want to gain. They don’t care whats the verdict of their actions.
May be it is a see grass.
wow this is scary what are we doing to these bodies of water, is this affecting any sea life?
its just like the other day I was seeing a thing on the discovery and how the amazon river is like black on one side and another color and they never mix so strange
I agree with the others. Its oil accidentally go into the water. I hope it would not affect to the living things in the sea.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the oil dispersant ? So far, Tampa Bay has been unaffected. Our bay in Tampa is very shallow. Any oil in Tampa Bay will be a disaster to marine life.
This “discolorations” is clearly oil… What else could it be?
Approximately 60,000 barrels, or 2.5 milion gallons were leaking into the gulf daily. You can’t expect that to just go away, regardless of cleaning efforts.
Just wanna ask some updates if how was the Gulf of Mexico is going right now? Blaming is not face-saving. What’s important is that we’ve learned from that human error. It’s always a reminder that we should be extra careful of our environment. Let’s not forget the importance of nature in our lives.
