Red tide bloom from Nokomis to Englewood FL

Topics: Florida Red Tide Report

As of the 17th of December no one has reported any fish kills or respiratory distress, but the Sarasota County Health Dept has reported low concentrations of the Red Tide organism, Karenia Brevis.

Locals know the weather reports have the winds staying strong.  If the red tide intensifies a bit, it could be quite unpleasant in Venice Florida. Venice Florida is a small town in between the two points mentioned above on the west coast of Florida.

The reports coming from the Englewood area and points in between, like Service Club Park beach and Sharky’s on the beach, are anecdotal.  The reports from Sarasota County Health Dept were based on water samples taken just north of the Venice inlet in Nokomis FL’s North Jetty Park.
