3 Red Tide Blooms in Florida

Currently there are 3 Florida Red Tide Blooms occurring throughout Florida:

In the northwest, centered around Pensacola, drifting to the east.

In the northeast, centered around Smyrna Beach / Daytona Beach.
This one is a very intense red tide bloom.

In the Southwest, a small pop-up red tide in the northwest of Charlotte Harbor.
This red tide bloom may just dissipate on it’s own.

We are currently staying on New Smyrna beach and experienced the nagging cough, yesterday…Am hoping for a wind shift today as i would like to enjoy the beach…when we went inland, the symptoms subsided.

  5. Gloria Bryan Says:

The air was absolutely horrible on AIA at Indian Harbor Beach today. Just 20 seconds outside the car, and the coughing became immediate and intense.

Does anyone know how long this is supposed to last??

  6. Texx Smith Says:

No one really knows for sure how long it’s going to last. The conditions aren’t very favorable for an red tide bloom right now, yet there it is.

My quess is that it’ll ne gone in a month or less, but keep popping back up. A dry spell will also help.

Have ya’ll been getting a lot of rain over there recently?

  7. Victor Adamus Says:

It’s pretty strong this weekend in Cocoa Beach. We had some rain this afternoon and it seemed to make things worse. Can hardly stop coughing if outdoors. Also very humid. Wonder if that makes it worse.
