A Florida man convicted of second-degree murder in stabbing his friend to death over an okra seasoning dispute.

According to The Panama City News Herald, Orlando Ricardo Thompson, 27, was found guilty of the 2015 death of Caleb Haley. He faces life imprisonment for this crime. Thompson will be judged on May 4. Thompson and Haley began arguing about the level of spice in the marmalade they made at Buddy’s Seafood Market on June 23, 2015.

The controversy soon turned into a physical altercation with a 2×4 knife and pocket knives. Thompson was accused of starting another fight, this time with an ornate sword. Haley tried to defend herself with a mop handle but was stabbed in the stomach. Haley was killed two days later.

The prosecution used video surveillance to support their story.

From 2004 to 2007, Haley was the main mascot of Florida Osceola University.
