The police found a headless shark. A Florida man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
KEY WEST, Florida – Sheriffs have arrested a Florida man for possession of a shark’s head in a cooler in the Florida Keys.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested Angel Velasquez, 39, on Wednesday, according to some sources. Velasquez has been charged with a second-degree misdemeanor.
“Velazquez was fishing in a spot between Ramrod Key and Middle Torch Key that morning, and he saw a friend on patrol that morning,” said Becky Hearn, a spokeswoman for the mayor’s office.
When the mayor’s deputies checked the cooler of Velazquez, they encountered a bone-headed shark that had been decapitated and destroyed.
Under Florida law, a shark cannot be stored in state waters with its head decapitated, skinned, or scaled.
