Avon Park, Florida (AFP) – A man has been arrested in Mexico in connection with a crash in Central Florida that killed a couple, the Florida Highway Patrol reported Wednesday, and the man facing charges has been brought to the United States.
Authorities have filed a criminal complaint against Brian Dale Andrews in connection with the June 30, 2007 accident near Avon Park, according to a press release. Andrews had alcohol in his blood that exceeded the legal limit four times at the time of the accident.
Danny and Patricia McConne died in the accident. Andrews left the United States to avoid prosecution.
Private Chris Wells and others continued their work to find Andrews. According to the press release, Wells has received word that someone similar to Andrews has been seen in Mexico City. Andrews was arrested Monday after a highway patrol teamed up with the United States Marshall Service.
Andrews was indicted Wednesday on felony charges in Florida that included the murder of two people on a DUI, driving with a suspended license, and damage to DUI property.
It is not known if Andrews has a lawyer.
