Miami. A South Florida man was charged with first-degree murder after police claimed he killed someone during a fight over a dog who was defecating in a backyard.
A grand jury indicted Omar Rodriguez Wednesday, after Miami-Dade police alleged he shot Jose Ray twice for allegedly having dog feces in Rodriguez’s son’s garden. Ray died of his wounds in the middle of last month.
Rodriguez’s attorney, Alan Ross, says Ray started a heated argument and then followed Rodriguez with a knife.
The Miami Herald reported that this shooting was the result of years of threats, harassment and false allegations that Rodriguez made against various residents. Rodriguez was arrested several times, but was not sentenced to aggravated imprisonment.
Since 2008, residents have filed more than 140 complaints against Rodriguez. Rodriguez also filed several handwritten lawsuits against neighbors and the police.
