Marathon (CBS Miami) A marathon (CBS Miami) man was arrested in Florida on Tuesday after a police report said they found nearly 200 illegally obtained lobster tails inside his car. Middle Keys deputy director Jordi Escalante Carrillo was arrested while racing a marathon on Tuesday night, citing traffic violations. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that Carillo was driving a vehicle with an inaccessible sign.
In a traffic stop, Representative Carrillo reported that he smelled marijuana in the car. Carrillo couldn’t understand anything because he only spoke Spanish. A Spanish speaking sergeant came in to help with translation and Carrillo said he hadn’t done anything illegal in the car.
While searching the vehicle, the officer found a huge plastic container filled with squeezed lobster tails.
Carrillo admitted he had the lobster and stabbed the lobster all night long, according to police from the sheriff’s department. Carrillo was identified with 191 spear-slaughtered lobsters and spear-slaughtered lobsters. It was the smallest lobster, and 185 over the limit.
The legal size limit for the size of lobsters caught within Monroe County is six per day.
No other illegal smuggling was detected inside the vehicle.
Carrillo also mentioned that there is no commercial license for fisheries.
Carrillo was sentenced to prison.
